With this introduction of the American Karate Association (AKA) to the Southern California region the AKA brings with it 46 years in experience of excellence in the world of Martial arts.

Started in 1964 by Mr. Ernest Leib (Black Belt Hall of fame member) the AKA is one of the oldest martial arts organizations and has sanction events all over the country. The AKA Grand Nationals in its 45th year is noted for fair and exciting competition.

We are proud to work side by side with Mr. Joe Ellis, his family and other area Martial artists to bring you the best in Martial arts competition.

Kung Fu Magazine is excited for the City of San Diego and tournaments in general. The AKA American Open Martial Arts Championships, hosted by Joe Ellis has been in the making for three years. It holds top sanctions in AKA, BASKA, IMAC, NASKA, SMAA & TPA.

I would like to personally congratulate and welcome Mr. Joe Ellis in his first inaugural NASKA tournament, the AKA American Open Martial Arts Championships. NASKA is excited and eager to come to the beautiful city of San Diego. It has been long over due.

Mr. Ellis has traveled the NASKA circuit for many years to learn from the best tournament promoters in North American. I'm sure Mr. Ellis will bring together all the experience and knowledge he has gained from his participation in North America's greatest NASKA tournaments, to host a successful AKA American Open Martial Arts Championships.
